Guyana’s PPP says recount exercise continues to expose Clairmont Mingo’s fraud

Guyana’s opposition People’s Progressive Party says as the national recount exercise continues, the Statements of Recount (SORs) produced from every ballot box, continue to match the Statements of Poll (SOPs) in the PPP’s possession and expose the fraud perpetrated by Clairmont Mingo.

In a statement Monday evening, the PPP said Joseph Harmon has submitted a list of names to the Chairperson of GECOM, falsely contending that those people were out of the jurisdiction on March 2 but voted.

“This list was forwarded by the Chairperson of GECOM to the Commissioner of Police, who submitted an extract from that list, claiming that these persons left Guyana before March 2 and did not return,” the statement reads.

“It is already on the public record that APNU+AFC is concocting these allegations. One such example is the case of the Berbice couple who are in Guyana and voted for APNU+AFC but APNU+AFC claimed that those persons were overseas on Elections Day. In addition to this, the PPP/C is currently conducting fieldwork and we have discovered several persons who were in Guyana on March 2, but whom the APNU+AFC and the Commissioner of Police claimed were out of the jurisdiction on the said day.

“We reiterate that this exercise is a wild fishing expedition to delay the declaration of the results as GECOM has no jurisdiction to hear and determine these matters which can only be addressed by the High Court in an election petition. Further, as we have posited earlier, the PPP/C is not afraid of any investigation or inquiry of any type and is ready to participate in any such activity at the appropriate time and at the right forum,” the statement continues

The PPP says it will will provide more information shortly, and all its findings about the fake list will be made public later.
