Haiti’s Police Chief Inspector General tests positive for COVID-19

Haiti’s Police Chief Inspector General Hervé Julien says he;s tested positive for COVID-19.

His deputy, Inspector General Joany Caneus, is now acting in his place.

Julien explained that he had had a fever and had been feeling like he had the flu for the past week.

He voluntarily quarantined himself.

Last Thursday he took the test and on Sunday, May 17, the result of the test revealed the presence of SARS-CoV 2 in his body.

“For the moment, no other employee of the PNH general inspectorate has tested positive for COVID-19. After being informed of the test result, I am still under quarantine at home, he said.

The PNH chief inspector general said that the institution is operating normally. The building has been disinfected. And, to apply the provisions of the decree on the state of health emergency, the number of employees is halved. Wearing a mask is compulsory.
