JAMAICA – American man held for sexually assaulting minor at tourist resort

An American man is behind bars in the United States after being accused of sexually assaulting a minor at a tourist resort in Jamaica.
A statement issued by the US Attorney’s office for the northern district of  California says a federal grand jury on Wednesday indicted 43-year-old Douglas Peacock for travelling to a foreign country and engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.
Peacock was detained in the Southern District of  Florida on Wednesday morning after being arrested on the charge in Miami on November 10.
According to the indictment, Peacock, who is from Foster City, California, travelled from the US to Jamaica about June 19 this year and engaged in illicit sexual conduct with a minor who was, at the time, under 12 years of age.
It’s alleged that Peacock, while in the pool of a family-friendly resort in Jamaica, molested a six-year-old US citizen.  He has been charged with one count of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places. If convicted, he faces a maximum statutory sentence of 30 years.
