JAMAICA – Police probe multiple shooting at funeral

Investigators are following strong leads in their probe into the shooting of nine people at a funeral on Windward Road in Kingston Sunday afternoon.

The police report that shortly after 3 p.m., mourners were outside King’s Chapel Seventh Day Adventist Church when three armed men arrived in a car.

They alighted from the vehicle and opened fire on persons standing in the church yard.

Two of the nine people who were shot later died.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Branch, Senior Superintendent McArthur Sutherland confirmed that a man is under investigation in connection with the shooting.

The man, believed to be one of the suspects, was held and severely beaten by residents of West Street.

He is in hospital under police guard.

The funeral was being held for Romaine White otherwise called “Boisey”, a resident of Matthews Lane in West Kingston.

He was fatally stabbed in downtown Kingston on November 29.
