Jamaica Prime Minister Reshuffles Cabinet

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Nov 06 2015 – Health Minister Dr Fenton Ferguson has been removed from the Health Ministry and Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Finance Horace Dalley is expected to take over the position effective Monday, November 9.

Ferguson has been moved to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister on the matter said Portia Simpson Miller today (Friday, November 6, 2015) advised the Governor General, Sir Patrick Allen of changes to the Cabinet effective Monday, November 9, 2015.

Derrick Kellier will continue to lead the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

In announcing the changes, the Prime Minister said she has listened to the recent discussions and expressions of concern, some of which could have the effect of distracting from the very important focus of economic and social reforms. She said the country must be united in purpose so as to ensure that the positive path that Jamaica is on will not be disrupted in any way.
