JAMAICA – Teachers arrested on charges relating to having sex with students

Detectives assigned to the St Catherine Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) have charged a primary school teacher with breaches of the Sexual Offences Act.

The teacher has been charged with having sexual intercourse with a person under 16, indecent assault as well as grievous sexual assault.

It’s alleged that the accused, who taught the complainant at a primary school in St Catherine, convinced the child to engage him in sexual activities on more than one occasion.

He is scheduled to appear before the St. Catherine Parish Court on Friday.

Last Thursday a St Thomas teacher was also arrested and charged with having sexual intercourse with a person under 16.

The police said the accused was the complainant’s teacher.

The teacher is scheduled to appear before the St Thomas Parish Court on January 24.
