Jamaican MP dies suddenly

ST MARY, Jamaica, Aug 14 2017 – The Member of Parliament for St Mary South East Dr Winston Green has died.

Green, a long-time member of the People’s National Party died at hospital last night, shortly after complaining about feeling ill.

He was a dental surgeon.

He was elected for a second term in February last year after winning his seat by five votes in a magisterial recount.

This changed the balance of power to 32 seats for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and 31 for the PNP.

Harry Douglas, a former St Mary South East MP was shocked by the news of the death.

Speaking on Independent Talk on Power 106FM, Douglas described Green as a family man.

He said the MP was very devoted and dedicated his Saturdays to GSAT students in his constituency.

“He will be sadly missed,” Douglas said of Green, the father of three children.
