Police are investigating the death of 49-year-old lawyer, Gareth Forbes, whose body was found in a pool of blood at his home in the capital on Thursday night.
Police said that a relative had found the body and that he had been shot at several times.
The police have not given a motive for the murder that occurred at Oakridge Stillwell Road in Kingston 8.
Last week, Prime Minister Andrew Holness said that at least 20 people had been murdered in the first seven days of 2019.
A total of 1,287 persons were killed last year, a 21 per cent decrease when compared with 2017.
