LIAT 2020 expected to begin flights within a month with 6 planes

In less than a month, Antigua officials believe LIAT 2020 will start flights. Ambassador Daven Joseph, temporary chairman, said the airline will launch with six planes.

Antigua will buy three LIAT 1974 Limited aircraft through the Caribbean Development Bank for $12.1 million. Antigua and Barbuda will deposit $4.1 million to buy the first aircraft soon.

Joseph hopes to get the Air Operators Certificate (AOC) and aircraft in two to three weeks.

The government is also working with Nigeria’s Air Peace to start LIAT 2020 with six aircraft and future fleet expansion.

One LIAT aircraft is operational, while the other two are being maintained, with the intention of having all three operational by September.
