PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Oct 17 2015 – Trinidad and Tobago police have launched an investigation into the death of a 37-year-old man, whose body was found hanging in a cell at a police station in Central Trinidad on Friday
Police said that Ravindra Sahadeo was found hanging in the cell at the Chaguanas Police Station less than 30 minutes after he was arrested.
Police said they had earlier detained the man after they responded to a report of Sahadeo pulling a woman into a vehicle.
They said they intercepted the vehicle and the woman was identified as Sahadeo’s common-law wife. However, they had been estranged for some time.
The police said the unidentified woman had cuts and bruises about her body, was taken to the Chaguanas District Hospital where she was treated. Sahadeo was taken to the police station and placed in a cell.
But police said 30 minutes later they found Sahadeo hanging from his pants which were secured on the bars of the cell.
