More than a dozen non-nationals detained in TCI

Sixteen males from different Caribbean countries were handed over to Immigration for processing in the Turks and Caicos Islands after they were held during joint traffic enforcement operations.

On Wednesday, police checkpoints were established at the Susie Turn Roundabout, Providenciales where during this period, there were a total of 41 traffic checks conducted, 36 tickets issued, 10 tint removals, four vehicles towed, four persons were warned of intended prosecution and 16 males detained.

The males, 14 Haitian nationals, one Dominican national and one St Vincent national were handed over to Immigration for processing.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force says the operation formed part of a strategic plan to combat illegal activities in the TCI and included having increased visibility of law enforcement on the island’s roadway.
