The Future is Accessible: Commonwealth hosts conference in Antigua

The Commonwealth is hosting a regional conference in Antigua this week to help persons with disabilities live independently, be included and participate in their societies on an equal footing in the eastern Caribbean.

Under the theme ‘The Future is Accessible’, the conference builds on the outcomes from the first ‘IAmAble’ summit held in 2017, which promoted practical steps countries can take to improve prospects of education, employment, health and mobility for persons with disabilities.

The conference is being held in partnership with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda from Dec. 3-5.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Governor-General Sir Rodney Williams will open the conference on Tuesday to mark the International Day of Disabled Persons.
