One Arrested, Millions Seized In Drug Bust

NASSAU, Bahamas, Nov 30 2016 – Bahamian authorities say they have seized cocaine with a street value of more than four million US dollars during an operation involving their United States counterparts on Tuesday.

In a brief statement, the Drug Enforcement Unit said their officers in collaboration with their US counterparts were on air patrol in the Sweetings Cay area, when they intercepted a boat with four males and four large packages of suspected drugs.

“One male suspect was arrested and the others made good their escape. The drugs was confiscated and discovered to be 170 kilos of suspected cocaine with a street value of over four million dollars,” the statement said.

It said the police are continuing investigations.
