GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Aug 03 2015 – One person is reported missing after a locally registered vessel reportedly sank over the weekend off the coast of Guyana.
The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) said the vessel, “CAPT. SAIF,” carrying a consignment of goods, sank sometime between Saturday and Sunday evening.
The MARAD said that four people were on board and that information so far indicates one of them is missing. It gave no details.
“The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) is coordinating efforts to search for the missing person and has also commenced its investigation,” the statement said.
