Opposition UNC activist to pay PM Keith Rowley $350K plus costs

Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley was today awarded $350,000 in damages and aggravated damages plus costs by the High Court in his defamation suit against UNC activist and spokesman Brian Stone.

Stone is the former Chairman of CNMG, now TTT and current host of the UNC’s Monday night forum.

The suit stemmed from a number of defamatory statements made by Stone in 2017, which included posts to Facebook.

The court in its ruling today noted that the defamation before it “was of utmost gravity and aimed to do maximum damage to the reputation of the claimant,” the Prime Minister.
