Police in Jamaica make largest compressed ganja seizure in country’s history worth $35M

An operation in Manchester, Jamaica has resulted in the seizure of nearly 9-thousand pounds of ganja worth some $35 million.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force is calling this the largest compressed ganja seizure in Jamaica’s history.

Four people including a woman are now in custody in relation to the major ganja bust.

The operation was conducted by members of the Narcotics and Manchester Police Divisions in Spur Tree on Monday.

Reports are, about 8:45 in the evening, the team carried out coordinated operations at two premises in the area.

During the search, about 8,700 pounds of compressed ganja was seized.

A picture released by the Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit of the major find shows stacks of packages wrapped in tape in the corner of a room.

A vehicle has also been seized.

The identities of the persons taken into custody are being withheld pending further investigations.
