Police officer shot and killed in Trinidad

Police were searching for two gunmen who allegedly shot and killed an off duty police officer at a bar in Arima on Sunday.

Police constable, Kryston Ramirez, a father of four, was shot in the head after two men, dressed in Muslim garb, entered the restaurant.

Eyewitnesses said that the men then ran off.

Police said an autopsy was scheduled to be done on Monday.

The death brings to 504, the number of people murdered in Trinidad so far this year.

Relatives believe that he may have been killed in a case of mistaken identity.

One newspaper reported Monday that a 16-year-old secondary school student had been detained for questioning in relation to the murder.
