Pregnant Scammer Released On Bail

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, May 04 2016 – The Barbadian woman who has been jointly charged with three British visitors in connection with a $75,000 credit card scam, made her third appearance in a Bridgetown magistrates’ court Tuesday.

After her brief appearance, 30-year-old Melissa Latoya Cumberbatch of Baycroft Road, Carrington Village, St Michael was released on bail.

Back in February when Cumberbatch appeared at the Holetown Magistrates Court charged with Michael Akinwale Akingbade, 33; Joseph Adedapo King, 30; and Mukhtar Mohamed Muctar Abbasheikh, 19, they were all remanded to Dodds prison.

The four allegedly, by way of fraudulent credit card transactions, obtained items such as jewellry, perfume and electronic equipment from luxury stores between February 3 and 4.

As a result, Cumberbatch was charged with nine counts of criminal deception and one count of attempted criminal deception while Akinwale Akingbade faces eight counts of criminal deception and one count of attempted criminal deception.

King and Abbasheikh were also jointly charged with nine counts of criminal deception and one count of attempted criminal deception while Abbaskeikh faces an additional charge of possession of cannabis and going equipped. (Barbados TODAY)
