Saint Lucia turns away cruise ship due to multiple cases of ‘upper respiratory tract infection’

Amid the global scare of the new coronavirus, the Aida Perla cruise vessel has been denied entry to Saint Lucia’s port.

The vessel, with a capacity of close to 3,300 passengers, was scheduled to berth at Point Seraphine at about 7:30 am Saturday.

Local officials say multiple individuals on board the Aida Perla were presenting cases of “upper respiratory tract infection” and the vessel was turned away, “in accordance with the health declaration”

The Ministry of Health is expected to issue a statement later on Saturday.
