BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Sept. 6, CNS – Principal of the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Sir Hilary Beckles will be the new vice-chancellor from May next year.
He will take over from Professor E. Nigel Harris who steps down in April 2015.
The announcement came late Friday in a statement from the UWI, following an extraordinary meeting of the University Council.
The chair of the search committee Dr. Marshall Hall said Sir Hilary was selected from more than 50 applicants from all over the world.
