Six Killed In Gun Battle In Jamaica

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica, Jan 16 2017 – The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the fatal shooting of six men in the western parish of St. James late Sunday.

INDECOM is mandated to investigate incidents involving members of the security forces that results in the death or injury of others.

Police say the men, whose identities are yet to be released, were involved in a shootout with a police/military team in the community of Granville on the outskirts of the second city of Montego Bay.

The police say when the shooting subsided – shortly after 10:00 pm (local time) the men were taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

They added that four illegal firearms were recovered following the gun battle.
