Surinamese Drug Mule Sentenced in Antigua

ST JOHN’S, Antigua, Nov 17 2015 – A Surinamese drug mule who was nabbed at the V.C. Bird International Airport last Thursday with more than three Kilos of Cocaine has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison.

Mireille Letitia Hasselbaink, 36, was intercepted by Customs Officers, attempting to smuggle 3.1 Kilos of cocaine into the country. The drug was concealed among several boxes of chocolate.

She arrived in Antigua aboard the Caribbean Airlines Flight 458 from Suriname. The drugs carry an estimated street value of EC$ 111,653.
