Trinidad and Tobago Assumes Chair of OAS Permanent Council

WASHINGTON, April 06 2015 – Trinidad and Tobago has assumed the rotating chairmanship of the Organization of American States Permament Council.

Trinidad’s permanent representative to the OAS, Neil Persan, assumes the role for three months.

He promised to defend “the commitment of Trinidad and Tobago to the values and principles of the OAS” in his term.

He succeeds the Ambassador of Suriname, Niermala Badrising, in the role.

“I am proud to transfer the mandate to another Caribbean state,” Badrising said.
