TRINIDAD – PM Keith Rowley to visit China

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is expected to pay an official visit to China later this year to continue further discussions on finance and trade issue, according to a government statement issued here on Friday.

The statement, followed talks between Prime Minister Rowley and a delegation headed by Zhou Xiaochuan, the Governor of the People’s Bank of China and Chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee.

The brief statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister noted that “finance and trade were the principal topics” discussed noting that “the discussions were aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between Trinidad and Tobago and China towards fostering mutual interests in finance and commerce”.

It said that Prime Minister Rowley “welcomes Chinese interest in expanding into areas of regional trade where Trinidad and Tobago has a geographic and commercial advantage.

“It is expected that Prime Minister Rowley will pay an official visit to the People’s Republic of China later this year where these and similar discussions will form part of the business of both countries”.
