Trinidadian On Four Drug Charges Pleads Guilty

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Aug 18 2016 – A 26-year-old administrative assistant from Trinidad who was remanded after appearing in a Bridgetown court last Friday afternoon on four drug charges, has pleaded guilty to all of them.

Jornella Banyelle Boland of #21 Buena Vista Gardens, Arima, first went before Acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court on August 11. She was at that time not required to plead to possession, trafficking, intent to supply and importing two kilogrammes of cocaine.

Frederick transferred the matter to District ‘B’ Magistrates Court where Boland appeared this morning before Magistrate Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell.

The woman was held with at Grantley Adams International Airport after the substance was found in the lining of her luggage.

Today, Boland told the court that she was staying with someone in Trinidad and he had asked her to bring the suitcase to Barbados for him. She will return to court on August 29 for sentencing.

Sergeant Wendell Greenidge prosecuted the case while attorney-at-law Kim Sealy appeared on Boland’s behalf. (Barbados TODAY)
