Two Charged In Murder Of Two-Year-Old

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Aug 31 2016 – Police have charged two men in connection with the execution style murder of two-year-old Demario Whyte that shocked Jamaicans last week.

Whyte was shot in his head at point-blank range by the gunman after his injured father left him while trying to escape the gunman’s bullet.

Police said that 24-year-old Curtis Bell, otherwise called ‘Chaka Bar’, and 29-year-old Sheldon Watson, who were arrested last week, have now been jointly charged with murder, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as shooting with intent.

They will appear in the St. Andrew Parish Court next Tuesday.

The child’s father was reportedly shot twice in his foot and once in the stomach while his brother was shot in the face.

Police said last week that the attack was as a result of an ongoing gang feud.

One newspaper writer called on Jamaicans to protest the murder of the child saying “we are not the nation that kills its kids and its women with impunity”.
