U.S. President Obama To Visit Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica, March 17 2015 – United States President Barack Obama is set to visit Jamaica next month.

Obama is scheduled to attend a meeting in Kingston on April 8, after which he will leave for Panama to attend the Summit of the Americas that will be held over April 10 – 11.

Speaking in Parliament a short while ago, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller said the Government of Jamaica is pleased to welcome the President of the United States of America to the shores of Jamaica.

“We are delighted to welcome President Obama to Jamaica,” she said.

Mrs Portia Simpson – Miller then revealed that Jamaica will be hosting a special meeting in which President Obama will meet with the leaders of CARICOM. It is expected that meeting will be chaired by President Obama and the chair of CARICOM, Perry Christie, the Prime Minister of the Bahamas.
