LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Jan 25 2017 – The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Wednesday announced that Jamaican sprint sensation Usain Bolt has lost one of his nine Olympic gold medals in a doping case involving his teammate Nesta Carter.
The IOC said that Carter tested positive for methylhexaneamine, a banned stimulant, in re-analysis of samples from the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Carter and Bolt were teammates on the winning 4×100-meter relay team, which also included Michael Frater and Asafa Powell.
“The Jamaican team is disqualified,” the IOC said in a statement, adding that the “corresponding medals, medallist pins and diplomas are withdrawn and shall be returned.”
