During a bipartisan meeting about immigration, President Trump asked why so many people from “shithole countries” are coming to the US, the Washington Post reports.
The comments came after lawmakers proposed protections for immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries.
“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump asked, according to two people briefed on the Thursday Oval Office meeting, referring to African countries and Haiti.
Trump then suggested that the US needs more immigrants from countries like Norway. (He met with the Norwegian Prime Minister yesterday).
