UPDATE: Photo-journalist among 2 killed at Bishop’s Courts, Barbados

A Nation News photo-journalist was among two people killed this afternoon by an unknown assailant while on assignment on the heavily wooded grounds of Bishop’s Courts, the derelict former residence of the Anglican Church bishop.

Police Public Relations Officer Inspector (ag) Rodney Inniss told reporters that the second body was that of a contract worker at the site.

Barbados TODAY understands that workers who were removing asbestos may have disturbed a vagrant who allegedly carried out the attack.

In a statement of condolence on the fallen media worker, the Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM) said it “condemns this and all other ruthless forms of attacks on journalists and the media throughout the world.
This incident highlights the vulnerability of media professionals and calls for greater vigilance by all when out in the field.
We call for swift action in apprehending the perpetrator responsible”.
