PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Oct 28 2015, CNS – Caribbean Airlines announces today the resignation of its CEO, Mr. Michael DiLollo with immediate effect, due to personal reasons.

A statement from the carrier said “this has received the approval of the Board of Directors”.

The Board also announced the appointment of Mr. Tyrone Tang, Chief Financial Officer, as Acting Chief Executive Officer while they conduct a search for a permanent replacement.

“The Board has full confidence in the senior leadership team of Caribbean Airlines to continue to implement the approved corporate strategy of the Company,” the statement said.

DiLollo was appointed CEO of CAL in May 2014.

DiLollo, who spent 20 years at Air Transat, replaced former CAL executive Robert Corbie who resigned in June 2013 almost one month after the entire CAL board, then chaired by Rabindra Moonan, was sacked by Finance Minister Larry Howai following what were described as breaches in governance.

At the time DiLollo said that he was focused on stabilising the internal operations of CAL and would centre his tenure on four pillars, namely safety, people (staff), customers and sustainability.

The CAL Board of Directors thanked DiLollo for his service to the airline and wished him all the success in his future endeavours.
