Buju released from prison

Reggae singer Buju Banton has been released from the McRae Correctional Facility in Georgia.

Jamaica Observer cited a source close to the entertainer who said she was unsure where the singer was headed.

However, the source said he could arrive in Jamaica as early as Friday night or Saturday morning.

The 45-year-old Grammy Award-winning artiste, whose given name is Mark Myrie, was arrested on cocaine charges in 2009 and given a mandatory 10-year sentence in 2011.

He was previously scheduled to be released in 2019, however, his release day was last year changed to December 8, 2018.

Days after his conviction, Buju Banton won a Grammy Award for his album Before Dawn.

His other albums include ‘Til Shiloh (1995), Inna Heights (1997) and Unchained Spirit (2000).

  1. I am really glad that Buju Banton is released from prison, and is back in Jamaica to see his children and families also friends. This should be a lesson for him, also some other Jamaicans to stayed away from cocaine. Because it is not good for their health, that drugs is what the dentist used to extract people teeth. It is really good that they released him before time, the prison got enough money for him staying there for 1oyears.This should be a lesson for him, also other Jamaicans, you left the country saying that you going make some money. Not to get into bullshit, I was so shocked to learned that he got arrested for drugs. I thought he was smarter than that, although I don’t know him in person from Jamaica. Is since living abroad I started to learned about Buju Banton songs,on WAVS RADIO STATION IN SUNNY FLORIDA. But I did not know nothing about him while I was living in Jamaica, because he was not doing music while I was living there. Buju Banton is a very young guy, based on his age,he could be my son.The years he was born I was already working at Bauxite company, in 1973 when he was born.
