PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, May 18 2016 – A 36 year old Princes Town man was detained by police on Tuesday after two young girls were rescued from his vehicle, where they were found naked and intoxicated.

The suspect remained in police custody overnight as investigators gather reports from medical and social welfare personnel on the girls.

The girls, aged nine and 14, were found by police officers in the man’s Nissan Navara in an abandoned canefield at Cedar Hill Estate in Barrackpore. Police said that at around 10:50 am they were on exercise duty when they spotted the vehicle and went to investigate.

However, the suspect drove off before he was confronted by police.

After a short chase, police officers intercepted the vehicle.

Police officers allegedly found the suspect was wearing only his underwear and tee shirt.

Bottles of alcohol were discovered in the van, police said.

The two girls were found in the nude, and appeared to be intoxicated, police said.

One of the girls was found on the front seat which had been reclined, and the other lying naked on the back seat.

Police said the girls were medically examined by a district medical officer, and there were no indications that the girls had been sexually assaulted.

The children’s mother told police that the suspect was a friend of the family.

The mother said she sent the children on an errand in Princes Town where they were allegedly lured into his vehicle. (TRINIDAD EXPRESS)
