Fire Alarm Forces InselAir to Make Emergency Landing in DR

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao, Aug 30 2015 – An InselAir flight was forced to make an emergency landing in the Dominican Republic Saturday night after a fire alarm went off in the cockpit.

Flight 533 was en route from St. Maarten to Port au Prince, Haiti, when the pilots received the fire alarm from the left engine.

The pilots immediately executed the necessary and specific procedure(s) for such cases and the aircraft (an MD80) landed safely in Santo Domingo on one engine.

InselAir’s technical team has started an investigation into the cause of the fire alarm.

The airline said all passengers have been accommodated in Santo Domingo and are expected to be transported to their final destination as soon as possible. (721 News)
