Former Trinidad attorney general arrested

Police have detained former attorney general Anand Ramlogan as he was about to board to flight, according to media reports on Wednesday.

The reports said that Ramlogan’s detention is related to an investigation into matters while he was attorney general.

Ramlogan, who served as attorney general between 2010-2015, is also before the courts on a charge of misbehaviour in public office and obstructing justice.

Media reports said that a warrant has also been issued for the arrest of attorney Gerald Ramdeen, who is also an opposition United National Congress (UNC) senator.

The police have not made any statement on the matter.
