The Dr. Timothy Harris Team Unity in St. Kitts and Nevis says it spent more than $1 million on the recent campaign to win back the government.
Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards has defended the amount of money spent, saying it was actually less than what they would normally spend on a traditional campaign.
“The virtual campaign actually cost us over EC$1 million,” Richards said.
“It was quite an expensive operation but I think it was an impressive one. I do believe at the end of the day it probably was less than the normal campaign and less in many respects.”
Richard said that in terms of election paraphernalia, the party had far less than they have had in the past.
“We did not print any copies of the manifesto but it’s available online for persons to read it or to download it,” he said.
“One of the things which has featured quite heavily over the years in terms of elections here in St. Kitts and Nevis is what we refer to as the overseas voters. That didn’t materialize this time around because of the fact that the borders are still closed for health reasons.”
