Ruling party legislator to bow out of frontline politics

ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, May 26 2017  – The ruling New National Party  (NNP), will be appointing a new caretaker for the constituency of Carriacou and Petite Martinique as the politician who has represented the party since 1999 has announced that he will be bowing out of frontline politics.

Elvin Nimrod, who is the party’s deputy political leader, made the announcement during a meeting of the support group earlier this week.

He did not name a direct successor but informed the grouping that three persons are in the line up to be new caretaker.

Nimrod, an attorney, entered politics as an independent candidate in 1995. He lost by 12 votes. The NNP won that election and he was invited to be part of the administration. He contested the 1999 general election and won the seat.
