Schoolgirls Accused of Beating Male Schoolmate Granted Bail

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Jul 24 2015 – Four schoolgirls accused of beating their male schoolmate had their bail extended when they appeared in court on Thursday.

The girls – three 14 and a 15 year old – were charged with assault occasioning bodily harm after they attacked the 13 year old boy.

The girls – students at the Yallahs High School in the eastern parish of  St. Thomas – were previously remanded when a video of the incident that made the rounds on social media, was discovered.

The teenagers previously told the judge that they were playing during the incident.

However, the judge dismissed their explanation after viewing the recording.

The girls are scheduled to return to court on October 5.
