Venezuelan President Visiting Dominica and St. Kitts Today

ROSEAU, Dominica, Sep 23 2015 – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is expected to arrive here on Wednesday where he will formally handover 300 houses to Dominica still recovering from the battering it received from Tropical Storm Erika last month that also resulted in the deaths of more than 30 people.

Maduro was originally due to have made his first official visit to Dominica on Saturday, but the visit was cancelled amid speculation that he was dealing with an ailment.

One of the model houses, dubbed ‘Petrocasas’, has been erected at the Douglas-Charles Airport, north of here,  where the handing-over ceremony is scheduled to take place.

President Maduro will be the second Venezuelan President to visit Dominica. The first was former President Hugo Chavez in 2009.

Maduro will also make his first visit to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis where he is scheduled to hand over cheques to former sugar workers.
