Dominica PM Travels to US for Birth of Second Child

ROSEAU, Dominica, Oct 14 2015 – Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit leaves here on Thursday for the United States on a 10 day visit, according to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister.

It said that Skerrit will be joining his wife, Melissa, who is due to give birth to their second child. The couple’s first child, Dmitry, was born on November 27, 2013.

“Mrs. Skerrit has been under medical observation in New York for the past six weeks, during which time Prime Minister Skerrit was, for the most part, in Dominica, attending to the traumatic national rescue and reconstruction exercise, occasioned by the passage of Tropical Storm Erika,” the statement said.

“While the Prime Minister will be physically out of state, he will nonetheless continue to oversee the reconstruction effort, including maintaining communication with donor agencies and individuals across the Globe,” the statement added.
